Your mother and I want it that way.
by Andrew MacGregor

'I Want It That Way' by the Backstreet Boys was released just over twenty years ago. Where in God’s name has the last quarter of a century gone, eh? Many have covered and parodied the track since then (One Direction, Howard Stern, Weird Al Yankovic, et al.), but we never expected to add Zurich Insurance to that list.

It's sung by a father concerned about his daughter's work-life balance, but with more practical, paternal lyrics. These include, "Look at your watch/Why are you working now?" and "When have you been out the door?/Your body would be up for it". Before long, Dad has liberated his hair and mounted the dinner table for extra impact.

He does so because he cares... and because income protection insurance sounds better when a salt shaker is played like a maraca (thanks, Mum!). The brand hope other workaholics take a step back and think about what illness or injury would do to the old bank balance. If not, Zurich may need to break out 'Larger Than Life'.
