by Andrew MacGregor

With season four of 'Only Murders in the Building' still a ways off, consider this Wells Fargo campaign from agency BBDO New York and director Aaron Stoller a spin-off. Rather than sit around and wait for the Arconia to reopen, Steve Martin and Martin Short head for the local bookstore, where the former is happy to show off how well-read he is.

He's also happy to let Short pay rather than reach for his back pocket (the seventy-eight-year-old needs to take it easy these days). Some friends would tell Martin to go book himself, but not Short—he earns unlimited 2% cashback with his Wells Fargo credit card.

It's a cosy pay day for the duo, but they also jive well with director Aaron Stoller. The ad also features a neat gag about the parasitic relationship between whales and barnacles... not that Martin gets the reference.
