Last October, a commercial for Vauxhall Corsa was, according to the PR we were sent, the first TVC out of Jung von Matt London. We questioned its provenance at the time because it was the most German commercial imaginable. Now, we are being told that this commercial for Wayfair is the first TVC out of the new London shop. So it seems our cynicism was well founded.

So, is this commercial better than its false start predecessor? Yes, indeed.

It's a conceit that can't have been easy to translate from script to film, but Arts & Sciences directors Adam & Dave (aided and abetted by an understated approach from VFX house Black Kite) have brought it to life with aplomb.

Perhaps the biggest barrier to the success of this campaign is an underwhelming perception of the wares of a retailer that sounds like it might be a betting company. A glance at their website quickly establishes the veracity of their claim... the range is eclectic and interesting. Perhaps the gap between perception and reality needs to be tackled head on.
