A coda for summer. | |

After an immensely disappointing summer tuns into a premature autumn for much of the country, Channel 4 are promising a little slice of summer of Tuesday evenings when The Great British Bake Off returns. This animated trailer for the iconic series has presenters Noel Fielding and Alison Hammond as a butterfly and a bee respectively making their way out of the storm clouds towards the bucolic idyll where the Bake Off tent awaits. It's a lovely way of representing the feel-good programme's ability to deliver viewers into a state of bliss for the duration of the programme, and watch amateur bakers vie for approval of glowering weirdo Paul Hollywood and saintly octogenarian Prue Leith. 4 Creative and director Bonnie Taylor Forsyth has perfectly captured the spirit of the programme and no doubt fans of the programme will be keenly anticipating its relaxing vibe, but it's time to retire the "soggy bottom" joke.
