You see, Jack's old man is a bit of a jackass who calls for almost every shot. When his son hits a shot into the net, he says: "I love you, but I need a lot more from you." It's such a great putdown, but also proof that pickleball is not for everyone. It's back to the store then, where comedian David Spade ('Rules of Engagement', 'The Emperor's New Groove') nudges Jack towards golf instead. The two get on well enough, but Spade's not the man to help Jack with his daddy issues—no way his appearance fee covers that.
