You and me, always and forever.
by Andrew MacGregor

Jess (Ruby Dawn Hall) and her dad (Jexin Hall) love the great outdoors. When they climb into his white Land Rover Defender, another adventure is never too far away. As much as Dad wants Jess to enjoy herself, he also wants her to learn. "Why?" she asks. "Because I'm not always going to be there to do it for you."

If that wasn't ominous enough, the doting father coughs a couple of times. Not that it stops him from teaching her to put up a tent or drive the Defender that means so much to them both.

Flash forward a few years, and Jess is all grown-up, able to change a tyre on a dirt road with ease. Her dad, meanwhile, is a shadow of his former self in the passenger seat. He may have lost his hair and his voice, but the proud smile forever reserved for Jess remains.

He disappears once his daughter is ready to hit the road with her own adventure buddy (Nikau Hall). There are tears, sure, but also tyre tracks to be made. You might say it's a family tradition.
