Swim for your life.
by Jason Stone

This 60" commercial may have been made using the assumption that the viewer possesses a visceral need to press the skip button, but that doesn't detract from an emotional tale of overcoming adversity. The focus of the film is a farmer in the aptly named Broken Hill who endured years of drought in a region where rainfall isn't frequent at the best of times.

Rather than surrendering to the frustration and turmoil of his situation, Brendan decided to begin a new hobby... swimming. In less than a minute we discover how this newfound passion led to a successful English Channel crossing. (It's nice to hear about a journey across this body of water that not even Nigel Farage and his ludicrous fellow travellers could get angry about!)

Director Christopher Nelius with great support from his editor Andrew Holmes distills the story with a great deal of skill, leaving the viewer wanting to know more about the intrepid farmer.
