Plonts invite viewers to scale a mountain of madness in a commercial for plant-based cheese. Kate Berlant ('Sorry to Bother You', 'Dream Scenario') plays a god who, er, forgot she'd banished a woman to a Sisyphean fate many moons ago. Played by Charly Clive ('Pure', 'All My Friends Hate'), the woman is condemned to roll a wheel of vegan cheese up a hill. A plant-based diet was her attempt to save the planet by herself, but that is too much pressure on one person. A benevolent, absent-minded god, Berlant frees Clive with her laser eyes—not in a Homelander way, but melts the wheel that has been her prison for God knows how long. The way she falls what should be to her death, only to stand in a lava flow of melted cheese, is superb, as is the use of miniatures, visual/practical effects, and graphics lifted straight from a lost infomercial. Batshit cheesy work in the best possible way.
