Olly Alexander
'Dizzy'
5 March 2024 2 mins 50s

There's more than a hint of 'It's a Sin' to the UK's Eurovision entry. Not only is it performed by Olly Alexander (who played Ritchie Tozer in the Channel 4 drama), but it sounds just like the Pet Shop Boys track from 1987. The chords, the chorus… it makes you wonder where Chris Lowe and Neil Tennant's lawyers have got to.

Bar any last-minute legal challenge, 'Dizzy' will be heard at the Malmö Arena on Saturday 11 May. Will viewers take to it more than Mae Muller's 'I Wrote a Song'? Let's hope so, as no one wants to finish behind Israel.

It will be interesting to see if the performance in Malmö takes any cues from the official promo directed by Colin Solal-Cardo. With an izzy-wizzy-let's-get-dizzy attitude, the director spins Alexander around on mobile stages to produce a deconstructed house party.
