Nike have joined forces with fashion designer Yoon Ahn to celebrate the return of Naomi Osaka to the US Open next month, and this sparkling film by Aidan Zamiri marks the collaboration. The former world number one has been open about her struggles with depression, and has been rightly lauded for her willingness to prioritise her mental health.

With that context in mind, the Japanese player's return to grand Slam tennis is a pretty big deal, and this commercial stylishly announcing her participation carries more weight because of it. in New York, Osaka will be sporting specially customised gear, which has already caught the attention of the national press.

The commercial riffs on the contrast between the disciplined world of the professional tennis player and those watching, who appear inclined to a more hedonistic approach to life... with Osaka pointedly demonstrating her own brand of cool by launching a blistering serve. Game on.
