'Surprize Fries'

Chips to cherish.
by Andrew MacGregor

On Play Your Cards Right, points meant prizes. At McDonald's, fries mean prizes (for a limited time only, we imagine). The brand's Peel and Play contest is back, with small, medium, and large fries as the fulcrum and 'Love Is in the Air' by John Paul Young as the soundtrack.

Director Mollie Mills has created a lovely compendium of moments where fries are promoted from side character to main character. People dunk them, dance with them, dress up as them, and even pay a taxi driver (also known as Dad) with them, but one scene involving an apple pie steals the show.

Fry in one hand and apple pie in the other, one diner dares to be different and plunges the former into the latter. An older couple are shocked by this abhorrent behaviour, but the brand are happy for customers to express themselves with food. Who knews—they may even win some cash as a result.
