Are JPMorgan Chase about to release an album of nursery rhymes? This 60" commercial suggests so, as the world's biggest bank team up with Rhiannon Giddens to present 'And the Green Grass Grows All Around'—just not the one viewers grew up with. You see, the bank felt it needed a few more references to supply chains, infrastructure, and the economy. That's why Giddens ignores the "prettiest tree" after a while and sings about, erm, jobs, skills, factories, and farms instead. It's pretty damn clunky, and not as profound as the bank think it is. The ad fares better in the visual department, courtesy of director Gus van Sant and DP Arnaud Potier. Not only do they paint a pleasant picture of the American machine, but they also highlight the humanity necessary to "make momentum happen".
