JLL
'There's No Going Back'
11 June 2024 60s
The way we worked.
by Andrew MacGregor

Fans of 'Job Simulator' will appreciate this tongue-in-cheek spot for global real estate services company JLL. Both turn the modern office (or "cubicle farm" as the game calls it) into a museum exhibit, though Jamie Lane's 60" commercial doesn't require a VR headset.

Instead of fine art or historical artefacts, patrons flock to see the "ancient habitats of workers" where hot desking was hit-and-miss, the temperature was always too hot or too cold (no wonder Goldilocks struggled to find work), and remote workers were forced to play 'Router Roulette'.

The tour concludes with a 'green' workspace that would make environmental officers wretch and a look at the 7km walk to the food court at lunchtime. DAVID would love to see more of these mundane nightmares in diorama form, but JLL reckon enough is enough—they are in the business of workplaces that work for people.
