8 is the magic number.
by Andrew MacGregor

Dublin 8 is not the sequel to Dublin 7—it is, in fact, a postal district with a world-famous landmark: St James's Gate Brewery. As well as the home of Guinness, D8 is also home to newsagents, restaurateurs, musicians, rug shop owners, and more. This commercial takes viewers on a heartfelt 60" tour of the area.

One D8 MVP is Noel Fleming, owner of Noel's newsagents on Meath Street. "The thing that keeps me here is the people," Fleming says, "and I'd say that people here feel the same about me as I do about them. To know that and feel it is love." Home sweet home, indeed.

What interests us more is a man who says: "Nobody's begrudging somebody new coming and starting a business." Immigration is a thorny issue in Ireland (to put it mildly), so for Guinness to share their two cents is significant. This extends to the diverse cast that defines D8 for the brand.
