The revenge of the great outdoors.
by Jason Stone

In one of his most famous roles, Ewan McGregor's 'Trainspotting' character expresses complete disdain for the much vaunted appeal of the great outdoors... complaining that it's all part of what makes it "shiite being Scottish". In real life though, alongside brother Colin, the film star cannot get enough of the stark beauty of his homeland.

Director Stuart McIntyre beautifully captures the relationship between the siblings. Ewan may be one of the most famous actors on the planet, but it's clear Colin is one of the few people to whom he defers, and is completely unaffected by his brother's fame... and McIntyre skilfully allows the audience to witness sneaky glimpses of this wholesome dynamic.

The duo plot a nostalgic journey around the people and places of their childhood, and anyone who stays tuned for the whole ride will find themselves hugely engaged by the charm of everything they see.

Expedia must have invested a lot in Ewan McGregor to make him their spokesperson, but here he very much plays third fiddle to both the beauty of the Scottish countryside, and his quietly charismatic big brother. And you get the impression he's never been so happy to share the limelight.
