In 2021, DAVID waxed lyrical about 'Jag Har Fattat (I've Understood)', a short film-cum-music video that explored grief and masculinity. Director Maceo Frost has since teamed up with actor Robin Nazari to form Biji, an audio-visual project that celebrates Kurdish culture. The promo for 'Zigidi' has Nazari entrusted with a white BMW—a car that must reach a certain spot in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq unscathed ("Scratch her and you die," says the owner, and boy do you believe him). So does Nazari, but boy racers will be boy racers. The joyride that follows is breathtaking at times, rivalled only by the Kurdish countryside that Frost and DP Lionel Turner have taken to their hearts. Yet it's the quieter moments—like a game of cards in Rawanduz—that speak volumes about life, love, and sacrifice ("What goes comes easy with the wind goes with the wind").
