by Andrew MacGregor

The woman in this Auto Trader commercial wants to sell her car—friends and family want her boyfriend sold first. The bloke eats candy from the footwell, for God's sake, but she's happy to park that for now just to get the car listed. So, what should she write?

This is too good an opportunity for her support crew to pass up, so we get "Tidy, but slow" and "It's got a little exhaust". When dad asks, "Is that a penis joke or a bum joke", the ad kicks up a gear as you realise just how dim the guy in the passenger seat is.

To spell it out for him—and let New Zealanders know that a 2008 Nissan March is up for sale—the brand erect a billboard that says, "Dad reckons I need an upgrade." It might be the kick up the arse he needs in life, but Auto Trader care more about car ads that catch the eye.
