'Self-Employed'

On your own steam.
by Andrew MacGregor

This handsome AXA commercial from agency Publicis Conseil and directors Hoffman/Metoyer is a shout-out to the self-employed. Scored by El Perro del Mar's cover of 'I Got You Babe', the ad revolves around men and women who became their own bosses with everything that entails.

A gardener, for example, carries all his equipment like a human Buckaroo; a bookstore owner channels her energy into a fickle customer; and a personal trainer must try and convince people on the street to try CrossFit. It's hard out here, but Hoffman/Metoyer's lovely compendium has a few lighter moments as well.

The brand know that self-employment is risky, but it shouldn't be a risk with a capital R either. Self-employed people are therefore encouraged to reach out and discover what support is available... though we doubt the insurer will call anyone "babe".
