This promo for A$AP Rocky’s new single layers the outlandish on top of the bizarre on top of the plain strange. Shot in Kyiv back in December 2021, directors Vania Heymann & Gal Muggia have conjured a fantastical promo with exceptional flair, and there’s not a single boring frame in the whole three minutes.

Every time the camera changes perspective (which is about every time you blink) it reveals a new addition to the oddball cast of characters and their hijinks. Within the first 30 seconds, there’s a dog driving a minivan with a naked man sitting on the bonnet, latte art in the bowl of a public toilet, a rabbit enjoying a glass of wine and a bath in the sink nearby, people playing cards between the bathroom stalls while someone works as if at their desk, a man in an icebath, and a yeti for good measure.

The single was put on hold multiple times, so this is a video that’s taken a long time to see the light of day, and a certain corner of the internet would probably prefer it hadn’t. With the song’s title and lyrics like “I’m too swift, don’t tell Taylor about this shit”, there’s an obvious nod to the world’s biggest popstar. And the internet’s Swifties love to reprimand anyone throwing shade at their fearless leader, so it’s no surprise they’re coming for A$AP with speed. But you’d hope they’d keep their gripe just with Rocky, and leave this entertaining band of weirdos be.
