Canadian rapper Tom MacDonald continues to suckle at the alt-right teat on latest track 'End of the World'. The song features a turn from country singer and noted twat John Rich, who campaigns in favour of not teaching children about racism and brands anyone who thinks LGBT education has a place in schools as a 'groomer'. The popularity of MacDonald's songs in the US is not only concerning from a political perspective, but is fascinating intellectually. He's not saying anything new, revolutionary, or even in a particularly interesting way. It's barely rap by numbers, as he blathers out non-sequiturs about wokeness and the shadow government an AI could probably write better. And yet, he's hugely popular. The promo presents a similarly confusing mishmash of symbols to those who haven't drunk the conspiracy Kool-Aid - showing aliens abducting cows and people hoarding canned goods, while also seeming to not quite make fun of them via a tinfoil hat joke. It's stupid, it's all deeply stupid, but lots and lots of people are taking it seriously, and that's very concerning.
