Only eighteen months after the release of their debut album, The Smile (Thom Yorke, Jonny Greenwood, and Tom Skinner) have another on the way. The title track, 'Wall of Eyes', gets a broody music video courtesy of Paul Thomas Anderson, the director of Radiohead promos like 'Burn the Witch' and 'Daydreaming'. The latter shares DNA with 'Walls of Eyes': both cast Yorke as the lone wanderer, either ignored by others or able to make himself invisible to them. The agoraphobic frontman (at least in this black-and-white universe) even commandeers a phone box at one point, as no one would think to look there in this day and age. Fun as it is to see a joyful Yorke get blasted by an off-screen hairdryer, the most memorable shot depicts a row of Thoms in a bar—some chatty, some morose. We'd love to know what they talk about here, so fingers crossed for a BTS where Anderson asks Yorke to discuss the weather or train cancellations.
