The Beatles are back, but… should they be? After all, John Lennon died in 1980, followed by George Harrison in 2001 (Paul McCartney may have died in 1966, but let’s put a pin in that one for now). But when McCartney and producer Giles Martin used artificial intelligence to isolate Lennon's vocals from an old demo, the result was 'Now and Then', "the last Beatles song". Peter Jackson—the man behind 'The Beatles: Get Back' on Disney+—directs the music video, and it's tricky to know where to start. How about the way archive footage of Lennon and Harrison fills us with dread, not joy? If we look into their eyes for too long, will we be sucked into the archives as well? Or how about when present-day McCartney and Ringo Starr 'look' at their deceased bandmates? Some may call it a bittersweet triumph of technology, but many will consider it downright morbid. The unreal quality of the money shot—all four Beatles in a row again—is just too much.
