Diners attending Lunar New Year feasts are encouraged to be wary of their salt intake in this amusing film. Produced for the Singapore Ministry of Health, it depicts a female superhero zapping through a portal to appear where she's most needed - on the sodium-crusted streets outside a restaurant in trouble. Soon joined by a panicking cook, she hurries to save the day as patrons become calcified by their risk of hypertension and other diet-influenced diseases. A violent stand-off in the kitchen as she (almost) single-handedly fights off a pair of salt-crazed goons adds further depth to the action movie spoof. Her bumbling sidekick also brings a fun comedic depth to the film, as he gets involved with a mop during a critical moment. It's rare that ads taking a serious, lecturing tone about health and diet actually penetrate public consciousness, so this feels like an entertaining and effective alternative - fitting for the celebratory time of its release.
