Twisted Tale | |

The strained relationship between a father and his teenage son is explored in this touching short film. Directed by Ben Tricklebank, the piece is surprisingly tender despite the father's overall gruff exterior, as he struggles to connect with his child in a meaningful way. He's clearly trying his best though, and it's that obvious effort which elevates the story above a run of the mill tough guy tale. Just when it looks like there's going to be a sweet ending, however, a shocking twist throws the whole narrative into a brand new perspective. It's the sort of unexpected turn which makes you want to immediately watch the piece over again, keeping your eyes peeled for subtle clues which may have been missed. This is intriguing, intense, and a visceral example of how being a 'bad guy' doesn't necessarily make someone a bad person all the way down.
