Bill of Being
by Syd Briscoe

As the wider world oohs and ahhs at a ludicrously rich old man being given yet more money and power while wearing millions of pounds worth of jewels, non-royal British people are still facing a devastating cost of living crisis. Those with disabilities are hit even harder than most by prohibitive energy prices, as highlighted by this hard-hitting film.

Many choices made around rationing power due to skyrocketing bills are focused on things which can be changed. Switching to energy efficient lightbulbs, air drying laundry, making recipes which use the microwave rather than oven. When it comes to life-changing (and in many cases saving) medical equipment, however, there's no cutting corners.

The film pulls no punches as it reminds viewers that electric wheelchairs, communication tablets, and breathing machines still need to be powered no matter how much it costs. ITV's partnership with the charity will allow its poignant message to reach a wide audience, and assure audiences that sorely-needed systemic change will have a far more significant impact than the occasional celebrity handout.
