Squash Song | |

Those suffering from misophonia may wish to turn the sound off when appraising this winsome new offering from Robinsons. We do think they should stick it out if possible though, as the sound of harmonised gargling is undeniably strange... but oddly compelling. The film sees a collection of brightly dressed choristers assemble on some outdoor steps, with the group instructed to take a sip from their colour-coded glass of squash as one. They launch into a note-perfect, gargled rendition of Alicia Keys' 'Girl On Fire', ensuring the audience feels every throat bubble as viscerally as they do. The one misstep here is the inclusion of a non-gargling singer: a precocious girl who takes the lead above her harmonising companions. It would have been more memorable and different from other musical ads if they'd simply committed to the bit, trusting viewers to recognise the song without over-egging things with traditional vocals.
