Prequels are tricky business, but Netflix hit the right notes with 'Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story'. Classical covers of songs from Black artists pepper the six-part series, including 'If I Ain’t Got You' by Alicia Keys. Vitamin String Quartet do a bang-up job on the official soundtrack, but Keys has plans of her own. She enlists a seventy-strong orchestra made of female musicians to perform her 2003 hit ("Because women know how to get shit done!"), with all the finery you'd expect from the historical romp. It's a big deal for Keys, but an even bigger one for those around her. Director Basma Khalifa offers a lively insight into the performance and performers, with contributions from conductor Ofentse Piste, bassoonist Anjeli Valydon, and musician Delara.
