All good in the hood. | |

This oily tie-up between Nike and luxury streetwear label Off-White introduces viewers to the Hood Machine—a veteran bodybuilder who thinks that "consistence beats resistance" and the best way to relax after a workout is with... another workout. The more time we spend with him, the more ludicrous his routine gets. Thought two-finger push-ups were tough? Try a chest press with a fridge full of bricks, or pull-ups with a five hundred kilogram ball chained to your belt. Strong enough to squat and talk at the same time, the man mountain then turns his attention to the viewer. "How does it feel to sit on your couch holding your phone watching this?" he asks, confident that the gun show is wasted on us mortals. What you see is what you get, right? Not only do we then see strings attached to his barbell, the camera pulls out to reveal his spartan flat is just a film set. The real Hood Machine is the crew member who pulls the rope and wears Air Force 1 Mids for optimal grip. A clever, tongue-in-cheek power trip.
