Måneskin
'Off My Face'
29 November 2023 2 mins 31s

While they may be focused on maturing into their increasingly diverse musical career, Måneskin are still very much here to have fun. This promo for 'Off My Face' - shot by frequent collaborator George Gallardo Kattah - is a good example of their attitude, and reminds viewers that, for all their international success, the band's youngest member is still only twenty-one.

The track is a good, old-fashioned slice of stompy hard rock, with surging guitars and a relentless beat which makes it a guaranteed dancefloor filler. Singer Damiano David and co. mug for the camera with gleeful abandon throughout the accompanying film, with rapid cuts between different shots providing a kinetic sense of urgency even as the camera remains static.

The band's youthful energy turns the party atmosphere up to eleven, and will remind viewers of silly videos shot with friends in the days before social media gave us all an unshakeable fear of being embarrassed on camera. Despite slightly nonsensical lyrics about the person you fancy being a 'monster inside your head', this is a really fun bit of work which will appeal to hardcore fans and casual listeners in equal measure.
