Aqua once sang that life in plastic is fantastic, but Milliways chewing gum strongly disagrees. The brand are quickly becoming known for their colourful, overblown, distinctively irreverent visual identity - something this entertaining spot gleefully embraces. The narrative follows a man who exists in an entirely plastic world, opening with his sheets squeaking as he smacks the alarm clock and realises he has a hot date scheduled. Canny sound design emphasising the artificial nature of his environment accompanies his daily routine, as his shirt slithers over his shoulders and he brushes artificial glaze onto plastic chicken drumsticks. His date turns out to be the fakest part of it all, when her arrival reveals... a mannequin. Which quickly loses its head, just to add insult to injury. This is a fun and visually rich way to draw attention to the brand's no-plastic ethos, appealing to eco and health-conscious consumers with humour and style in equal measure.
