Alan Shearer may no longer be in his sporting heyday, but he remains an iconic figure in the world of British football. He's also a familiar face when it comes to McDonald's ads, thanks to a 1998 commercial in which a young man repeatedly failed to collect an autograph from his idol. The concept returns in this nostalgic effort, which updates the idea for the smartphone age. Rather than desperately trying to acquire a scribbled signature, the Shearer fan depicted here is stymied at every turn in her quest for an elusive selfie. Thankfully, the footy legend doesn't object to a cheeky snap when he stops off at her place of work. It's a sweet effort which brings the original cast back together, including Shearer's daughter on the phone and the hapless Macca's worker of years past playing the main character's father. Even if viewers aren't familiar with the Nineties original, this is still a charming way to draw attention to the brand's app rewards scheme.
