Brighton rockers Lovejoy get their heads examined in this intriguing promo for 'Portrait of a Blank Slate'. The band perform in a mostly-empty warehouse, before an array of mysterious, pseudo-scientific machines which monitor their impact on the brain of a man covered in sensors. Retro visuals from director Ted Nivinson give the piece a mixed-media vibe, with flashes of old-school animation and paper collage becoming superimposed over the live action. Visible soundwaves add further fuel to the fire... quite literally, as the film's dramatic climax proves. The lively action provides an interesting contrast to the band's performance, with frontman William Gold sporting a pair of horn-rimmed glasses and generally appearing too cool to care about the chaos unfolding in front of them. This is a weird piece of work in the best way, and will draw visually minded music fans to check out the rest of the up and coming act's catalogue.
