KSI and Oliver Tree get their hearts broken in this promo for 'Voices'. Popular YouTubers diversifying their content creation portfolio to include traditional media like music - in addition to maintaining a library of reaction videos, stunts, and other such clickbait - is always an interesting phenomenon, as viewers get a more intimate insight into the process. The difference between the reaction to someone like KSI's music versus a regular band or singer is fascinating, as the comments section is full of fans remarking on the artist "improving" or "sounding comfortable", rather than the actual quality of the song. It reads like friends offering encouragement on their mate's half-baked foray into music... which we suppose is the point of fostering such parasocial relationships. Oliver Tree also directed the promo, and his wacky sense of humour is reflected in the strange wigs and costumes sported by the cast. The film features intentionally over-acted performances and creates a heightened sense of reality throughout, perhaps in order to shift attention from the (passable but not very good) song onto the visuals.
