A taste of the Paleocene Epoch.
by Andrew MacGregor

The Isle of Raasay distillery's favourite epoch of all time is the Paleocene (DAVID prefers the Oligocene or the Miocene, but each to their own). Said epoch led to a volcanic plug on the island, and—sixty-six-million years later—gives this commercial for Dùn Cana Sherry Quarter Cask Release a strong visual hook.

Whisky brands love to underscore their connection to nature, and Isle of Raasay are no exception. Fans of Inner Hebridean geology are in for a treat, as directors Gavin Gordon-Rogers and Gemma Butler play Earth's greatest hits: minerals, rocks, soil and water. They all play a part in the creation of Dùn Cana, a 52% ABV whisky that's been a long time coming.
