A taste of the Paleocene Epoch. | |

The Isle of Raasay distillery's favourite epoch of all time is the Paleocene (DAVID prefers the Oligocene or the Miocene, but each to their own). Said epoch led to a volcanic plug on the island, and—sixty-six-million years later—gives this commercial for Dùn Cana Sherry Quarter Cask Release a strong visual hook. Whisky brands love to underscore their connection to nature, and Isle of Raasay are no exception. Fans of Inner Hebridean geology are in for a treat, as directors Gavin Gordon-Rogers and Gemma Butler play Earth's greatest hits: minerals, rocks, soil and water. They all play a part in the creation of Dùn Cana, a 52% ABV whisky that's been a long time coming.
