GambleAware have always been a strange proposition. In 2022, the charity were rebuffed by the NHS, while some medical professionals have criticised their links to the Royal College of General Practitioners. Yet this year also saw Lucky Generals launch one of the more noteworthy GambleAware campaigns in recent memory.
Like previous instalments, this thirty-second commercial uses abstract animation to highlight the effects of problem gambling—in this case, isolation. Black smoke reflects the toxic nature of the narrator's addiction well, before a shift to live action reminds us that real people are in need of support. It's just odd that said help is funded by the bookies!
