Watts it all about? | |
by Andrew MacGregor | |
|
One of adland's best-loved philosophers narrates this beautifully shot ad for Fuze Tea. The late Alan Watts argues that life is an "act of faith and an act of gamble", though surrender is the most powerful act imaginable. Watts encourages us to give in to love; the brand want us to give in to, erm, iced tea. Their secret weapon is director Jorrit Stollman, whose granular and expressive food photography evokes Green & Black's 'Wildly. Deliciously. Organic.' spot. Tea leaves, fruits, and herbs ensnare the senses, while a glass of the advertised beverage makes parched mouths quiver. Philosophy is thirsty work after all.
