Football Manager
'Bromley FC'

Heed the call of Bromley.
by Andrew MacGregor

As DAVID writes this, Bromley are third in the National League. Not too shabby, but the Ravens feel there's room for improvement. Rather than sack the manager or pump the squad full of drugs, the club have partnered with Xbox and 'Football Manager 2024' to find a, erm, Support Performance Tactician (here's the job description).

It’s for players who reckon hours of digital blood, sweat, and tears have prepared them for the real thing. Take the guy in this commercial—once he's unlocked the 'Championes' achievement with Bromley, he's transported to Hayes Lane through the magic of football (or some neat VFX, at least). Whether he's allowed to use his controller or not on the job remains to be seen.
