Eastpak takes viewers on a stylish trip to the future with this intriguing commercial. Shot on what appears to be Martian terrain, the film invites us to imagine what life on another world might look like once it becomes mundane - pooches, skateboards, basketball hoops, and all.
Directors Maky Margaridis and Tristan Feres blend a focus on fashion-forward imagery with capturing the distinctive weirdness of the cast's surroundings. It creates an uncanny effect, which is enhanced by flickers of crackly CCTV-style footage - echoing pictures received from the real-life rovers sent into space.
While our futures may not contain low-gravity hoop shooting with our mates (not for a while, at least), this is an imaginative look at what could be. It also serves as a reminder that fleeing to Mars isn't yet possible, so we should probably do something about that climate change business before Earth looks just as rocky and barren as the landscape here.
