The Hydraulic Press Channel took the internet by storm during the innocent early days of YouTube, first rising to prominence after managing to fold a piece of paper seven times - a feat previously thought scientifically impossible. Cornish Orchards enlist creator Lauri Vuohensilta for their first TV commercial, using his famous press to crush a variety of weird objects. It's a fun way to draw attention to the brand's ethos of keeping it simple, as they reject artificial flavourings (represented by gummy sweets), silly merch, and a range of other gimmicks in their quest for the perfect cider. Only a crushed apple meets their strict guidelines, which is pasted to a pleasing pulp under the press's unstoppable plates. While this will be an amusing exercise in nostalgia for some viewers, one doesn't need to be familiar with the hydraulic press's internet history in order to enjoy the satisfying visuals. A wide range of viewers will find this extremely watchable work, and will take away a positive impression of the brand's no nonsense sensibility.
