'Mog at Christmas'
1 December 2023 20s
It's a very, very Mog world.
by Andrew MacGregor

Keen to get people in the festive spirit as early as possible, Channel 4 announced an animated adaptation of 'Mog's Christmas' in May. Then we learned that it would be voiced by Claire Foy, Benedict Cumberbatch, Zawe Ashton, Miriam Miriam Margolyes, et al. Now we get to see Judith Kerr's forgetful feline in action.

Rather than a straightforward trail, this twenty-second ident is a mash-up between Mog and Channel 4's endless logo. It means we get to see her as an indoor cat and an outdoor cat, while director Robin Shaw—a man synonymous with Christmas animation—nails the transition. We also like the sound of Mog pawing at a balloon.
