A military veteran tells a harrowing story of surviving deadly combat in this poignant film for the Brady Center. The elderly man sits surrounded by service medals and mementos as he relates the upsetting tale, not holding back from explaining the confusion and fear he felt as he saw friends mown down in the line of duty. Except it turns out they weren't adults in the line of duty - they were children at school. The account actually comes from a boy who was only six years old when he was shot - and his classmates murdered - while just existing somewhere they should have been safe. It's a powerful way to hammer home the campaign's message that assault weapons have no place in civilian society, with the former soldier's emotional reaction to the child's tale of trauma bringing an extra layer of immediacy to the piece. If the American right keep crowing about the military 'protecting their freedoms', then why won't they listen to what people who've served their country think about gun control?
