Nick Mohammed - who plays Nathan Shelley in Apple TV's most popular offering 'Ted Lasso' - stars in this quirky film for the iPhone. The actor isn't particularly impressed when the full title of the piece is revealed to be 'A Day in the Life of an Average Person's Data'... cutting off any illusions he has about his own celebrity before they can even begin.
Mohammed proves a game presence throughout the film, as he runs into various scenarios where his assumed level of fame is dashed against the rocks of reality. Rejection emails, wrongly-judged fan photos, and a sneaky online search about how to make himself taller all enhance the self-deprecating humour at play.
This is the sort of film which would be unbearable with a less humble actor in the main role, but Mohammed is entertaining and self-aware enough that the audience doesn't immediately want to strange him for perceived hubris. Director Jonathan Krisel also makes the Apple spokesman work within the narrative, even if he delivers his lines like the ghost of the Microsoft paperclip returned from a very robotic grave.
