'Jingle All The Way' aside, few Christmas films boast as much muscle power as this Wonderhood Studios effort. Bodybuilder Louise Plumb stars as a would-be party planner's fairy godmother, and she's determined to make his "biggest ever Christmas do" a success. She arrives at the man's house with a Christmas tree in one hand and a snowman in the other, lifts him up to hang some lights, and cracks nuts with her biceps—enough to bring the rather timid protagonist out of his shell. All he needs is for the guests to arrive, eh? This is where the advertising agency reveal their partnership with Samaritans, aware that many other lonely people will go under the radar this Christmas. It also makes Plumb's involvement click, as the film's title, 'Spot Me', refers both to spotting in the gym and looking out for signs of loneliness. Director Theo James Krekis coaxes interesting performances from his two principal actors creating a vibe that's naturalistic and surreal at the same time, and it's attention-grabbing.
