True drift.

Toyota pay tribute to street racing manga series Initial D in this beautifully rendered commercial. Thel road is clear for protagonist Takumi Fujiwara, who wants to see how far he can push his Sprinter Trueno AE86. That's when a GR86 hot rod appears in his rear-view mirror.

His pursuer is Japanese racing driver and drifting guru Keiichi Tsuchiya, who's been technical advisor for the Initial D franchise since day one. Now that's how you do fan service.

Though the master versus apprentice narrative is a well-worn set of tyres by now, who cares when it looks this good? Initial D's manga and anime interations are obvious touchstones, but so is cel-shaded racing game Auto Modellista—a treat for fans of multiple disciplines.
