The isolation of trying to make it solo in an urban sprawl is explored in atmospheric fashion in this short film. 'I Carry Them' focuses on a lone figure making his way through deserted city streets, carrying a bag of unusual possessions and a folding chair. Thoughtful choreography enhances the piece's melancholy feel, with a jazz-focused soundtrack adding to the dawn/dusk vibe. It feels like a liminal space - a character caught out of time and victim to a narrative he doesn't quite understand. There's a distinctive sense of loss to the piece, as the central figure attempts to re-light a bulb that's long burned out - continuing to obsess over past mistakes and unable to move forward. It's thought-provoking work which will stick with the viewer long after the film's end.
