There's a lovely moment in 'Freedom Road' when Kai—a rider from Edmonton, north London—tearfully thanks BikeStormz founder Mac Ferrari for bringing him to the Scottish Highlands. It's the farthest Kai and his fellow teenage riders have been from home, and the importance of the trip is lost on no one. Director Alex Tiernan follows the group from London to Wester Ross, where Ferrari introduces them to Bealach na Bà—one of the most formidable single-track roads in the UK. Despite the dreich weather, Kai and company show 'the pass of the cattle' what they're made of. The young cast are easy to warm to, especially when they see tower blocks and concrete replaced with mountains and waterfalls. Their world becomes notaly bigger during this trip, reflected by Tiernan and DP Neirin Jones's expansive visuals.
