Renault’s Father's Day ad riffs on the brand's 'Papa and Nicole' campaign from the 1990s. Toby Dye's warm-hearted film stars three women called—you guessed it—Nicole, all of whom love their dads and are happy to say it. The alternative would have been three Nicoles who, well, hated their dads. To underline how much has changed since the Nineties (when Estelle Skornik's Nicole left Vic Reeves at the altar for Bob Mortimer), all three women drive a Renault Megane E-Tech Electric. However, the marque are content to take a backseat here. Dye coaxes some lovely, relatable reactions from his collection of fathers and daughters ("I love him so much. I should tell him more often, shouldn't I?").Two dads even claim that the 'Papa and Nicole' campaign inspired their daughters' names—it could have been a lot worse.
