A magical shop offers hope for those in need in this poignant film from the RBWH (Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital) Foundation. A young girl enters the establishment to buy some time - not for her, but for her father. Her disappointment at the item already being purchased is soon rectified, as it's revealed that it went towards medical research which is giving her dad the extra time she wanted. It's a sweet way to highlight the way donations can have a very real impact on families dealing with illness. The shop itself features lovely production design - adorned by lamps of all shapes and sizes - while the shopkeeper's unusual appearance and cheerful manner add to the film's sense of magical realism. This is charming, heartstring-tugging work from director Hailey Bartholomew.
