Don't come fly with me. | |

As a regular flyer between Scotland and London, the advent of a new rail service promising cheaper fares spoke directly to DAVID, and he's been waiting eagerly to discover whether Lumo could be used to assuage his guilt about the massive carbon footprint to which he's contributed over the past several years. Strange then to discover that this is exactly the theme selected by agency Mother when launching the new service in a television commercial. Like DAVID, Jen – the protagonist of the new film – is unhappy about her contribution to global warming. Unable to stop flying, she decides to mitigate her environmental deficit by taking a number of other measures. These have been richly imagined by Mother's uncredited creative team and directorial pairing The Bobbsey Twins from Homicide. Working through a series of increasingly comic scenarios, we witness Jen's efforts and can only admire the self-sacrifice they involve. It's a great way to draw attention to a rail service which many people will not yet be familiar with. And, it has already persuaded DAVID to check it out and consider using it for his next journey south… so, job done really.
