While many started baking their own bread during the pandemic, some foods are simply better left to the professionals. That's the thrust of this entertaining new commercial for Heinz, in which a woman goes tomato crazy after being assured of the simplicity of the brand's recipe. Rather than simply planting a few seeds, her and her family's life becomes dominated by the leafy beasts. Paddling pools are filled with soil, cupboards are stacked with experimental fruits, and a storm is no impediment to checking on the precious crop. After all that, simply globbing some ketchup on a burger is as much a relief as a taste to enjoy. This is funny work which emphasises ease over effort, and does a nice job of reminding viewers of the brand's sauce expertise. Those with bread-makers gathering dust and dead sourdough starters will watch with a relatable chuckle.
